Canadian vs. U.S. Cargo Tank Specifications, Reciprocity and Regulations

49 CFR allows Canadian and U.S. specification cargo tanks to be used in cross-border operations. Each country allows reciprocity of the other country's specification cargo tanks. This webinar highligts the regulations applicable to cargo tanks that cross between the U.S. and Canada. Kevin joined CVSA in February 2023 with 36 years of experience in commercial motor vehicle enforcement. Kevin started his carrier as a motor carrier officer with the Michigan State Police in 1986. He worked as a road patrol officer, school bus inspector, safety investigator and sergeant. Kevin is a former Level I and Level VI inspector and was the lead general hazardous materials, cargo tank inspection, other bulk packaging, and Level VI instructor for Michigan. He was also certified to conduct safety audits, compliance reviews, cargo tank facility reviews and economic reviews on household goods carriers. Kevin has held several CVSA leadership positions, serving as chair of the COHMED Program and vice chair of the Hazardous Materials Committee.
